Shintaro Kaido is Vice Provost for Innovation and Executive Director, Drexel Applied Innovation. As Drexel's inaugural Vice Provost for Innovation, Kaido works with Drexel's senior leadership to design and develop Drexel's innovation ecosystem. As the founding Executive Director of Drexel Applied Innovation, Kaido leads a team of ten professionals to expand the impact of Drexel research through technology transfer.
Kaido is a member of the Kauffman Fellows, a global fellowship of more than 760 venture capital professionals originally founded by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in 1994. Today, Kauffman Fellows represent over $290 billion in assets under management. Kaido is also a member of the Leadership Council at Activate, a 501(c)3 nonprofit which supports promising scientists move their transformative innovation from lab to market through funded fellowships. In 2022, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf appointed Kaido to serve as a board member for the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority which invests over $25 million annually in private partners investing in early stage startup companies in Pennsylvania.
